Facial alignment
A normalisation step that recrops and straightens a face before AI analysis.
📖 Full definition
Before computing an embedding, the face is aligned: rotation so the eyes are horizontal, centred crop, standard scaling. Without this step, two photos of the same person at different angles would produce very different embeddings.
💡 Concrete example
If your photo is slightly tilted, facial alignment straightens it before analysis — otherwise the resemblance score would drop artificially.
